Aggressive Goalsetting
I don’t know about you, but I am someone who tends to enjoy stretching my limits when it comes to goalsetting. The truth is, so many of us are guilty of setting our own limitations, whether we will admit to that fault or not.
Much of this comes from how we’ve been brought up. Perhaps we were told that money is difficult to come by, or we’ve learned to view the rich as greedy or evil people.
While it’s true that someone who is wealthy could be greedy or evil, it’s not a characteristic of all rich folks. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of people who have been successful and prospered over time and are some of the most generous individuals you may ever meet. If you were raised to believe that all rich and prosperous folks are evil, do yourself a favor and look a little deeper before making rash generalizations.
One common characteristic that you may find in folks who have become successful is that many of them are aggressively goalsetting. They aren’t wasting time. They aren’t binge-watching Netflix or sleeping in until noon. They are keeping their eye on the prize and working hard every day in order to realize their goals. These are people who you should admire and be inspired to learn from as much as you possibly can.
The very first lesson that you should learn if you do plan to emulate these folks is to become an aggressive goalsetting individual yourself. It wasn’t until I started to become more aggressive with setting my goals that I began to taste success.
When I was passively setting goals and hoping that one day I might achieve them, I wasn’t getting nowhere near the same results. As a matter of fact, I feel that I may have wasted several years or at least prevented myself from getting on a path to success sooner because I simply wasn’t being as aggressive with my goals as I should have been.
With this said, we can and do learn from our mistakes. This isn’t a bad thing, because now that I see that I needed to step things up on my end, I don’t plan on reverting back to a passive stance anytime soon.
As a matter of fact, I would say that I am almost the opposite of what I was before when it comes to setting goals. I will choose what I want to do and will drill down to ensure that I am doing every step necessary to not only take the appropriate actions but also keep track of my progress. I suggest that you do the same.
